Proper Recycling

The City’s recycling trailer has been a wonderful asset. Since we began using the recycling trailer, we have collected 106,371 pounds of newspaper, 20,318 pounds of plastics, and 4,143 pounds of tin cans. Recycling these items will prolong the life of our landfill. But we must recycle properly. Not every piece of plastic is recyclable. The Recycling Center only accepts plastics numbered 1 and 2. If your plastic item does not contain either of these numbers, DO NOT place the plastic in the recycling bins. Placing improper items in the recycling bins will jeopardize the City’s ability to continue recycling. If in doubt, throw it out or call the City office at 308-754-4483.
